Join Ebenezer in a NATIONAL UCC ALL-CHURCH READ!! Meet for book discussion Thursdays, May 23 and 30 – Evicted: Poverty and Profit in The American City, by Matthew Desmond. Meet for book discussion and potluck on Thursdays, May 23 and 30 at 5 pm in Ebenezer’s Fellowship Hall. Evicted draws on years of embedded fieldwork and painstakingly-gathered data. The book won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize, the National Books Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction, the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction, among other awards. This landmark work takes us into the poorest neighborhoods of Milwaukee to tell the story of eight families on the edge. Evicted transforms our understanding of eviction as a root cause of poverty.
Summer Schedule for Worship : Sundays at 9 am – May 26 through Sept. 1 ( a time for coffee and conversation follow the service) and Thursdays at 7 pm – May 30 through Aug. 29.
Vacation Bible School – All children welcome : ROAR ! Life is Wild. God is Good. Sunday, July 28 – Thursday, August 1, 5:15 – 8:00 pm. Pre-school to Grade 6. Family Supper provided. (Kids participate in Sunday Worship, August 4.)
Ebenezer’s early service on Sundays begins at 9:00 am. Sunday School begins at 9:15 am. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the service to share in the music and liturgy until students are dismissed to attend Sunday School at 9:15 – 10:00. Comma Café – coffee and conversation – is offered between services, from 9:45 to 10:30 am. The late service starts at 10:30 am.
