Ebenezer United Church of Christ has a history of
ordinary people working hard with God and each
other to accomplish extraordinary things. Within
the first two years after organizing in 1912, the faithful
charter members had built a chapel to begin to serve the
needs of the congregation and the wider community.
Through years of war, depression and prosperity, our
church grew stronger and larger. A leap of faith brought
this visionary congregation to our present location in 1970
with a wonderful building that has served us well.

This is an exciting time to be part of our church because there are no limits to what we can achieve as together we look to the future. Because of the vision and support of our members in past years, Ebenezer is in
an excellent location, visible and accessible on a main thoroughfare in the city, with a parcel of land that provides endless opportunities.
The pastors of Ebenezer have been crucial in helping our church thrive and grow. As spiritual leaders, Rev. Ruben Grosshuesch, Rev. Dr.
Roger Mealiff, Rev. Lorri Steward, and others, have brought their special gifts of faith, vision, direction, guidance, courage and continuity
of purpose – all of these characteristics have encouraged good things to happen at Ebenezer with the help of God.
Year after year, we continue to see our church family grow. New members bring their talents and gifts that enhance our ability to serve
as a congregation. Of special note, is the addition of many young families to Ebenezer. They paint a bright future for our church. The
excitement and energy generated by the growing number of children and youth is a blessing to witness.
Throughout our past, our members have shown their love
and commitment by giving generously to provide facilities
that have enabled us to worship and minister in Christ’s
name. Now we seek to expand facilities and upgrade
infrastructure so that we may equip ourselves for our “second century” of service; these are the goals of our
Second Century Campaign.
